As it turns out, because of the main character's "this isn't a game" outburst, Blanc holds off on the big reveal, so the killer can treat it like a confession

This allowed the hatemonger to still be publicly sanctified because he "rose from the dead like Christ"

A lot of movie is spent debating religion, with very careful lighting choices

Just when Blanc is about to do the big reveal, the framing looks like he has suddenly become religious, like it converted him, and it pads for A VERY long time on this

The lady who helped hide the gem for 60 years decided she needed to kill hatemonger priest, but in a way that would sanctify him

So she frames the main character for the murder and hopes to destroy the gem

But like... The hatemonger priest did not deserve to be sanctified in the slightest

Priest raised a girl to hate the daughter, so she helped hide the gem and laughed at the daughter, who went ballistic, punched her, then had an aneurysm and spent some 60 years being demonized

Well, 60 years later the grandson of the first priest, now a hatemonger priest, wants the gem for himself

Wake Up Dead Man starts with a rich priest who had a daughter before being a priest and forces his daughter to live miserably just to hide all the money and leave her penniless

Instead of doing the obvious priest thing of "donate all money to those in need," he got a diamond and hid it
