For an allegedly intelligent person, he clearly doesn't understand statistics at all. Population of Europe increased by 150m, population of the USA about the same. Population of China and India increased by a billion, each. One third of global population increase in two countries, that aren't white.

You might want to look into how the free tuition is funded - there are less university students in Scotland today, than there were before tuition went free (10-20% less); and there are catastrophically less college places today than before free tuition.

That's not strictly true, the pension age rising from 65 to 68 was laid out in the pensions act 2007. The coalition changed the timeline with the 2014 act, they didn't change the end effect.

The "easy" route in for most people right now is Linux mint. Close enough in feel and flavour to windows to not be daunting and will just work for most normal use cases. Once you get into gaming on Linux, it gets murky. The vast majority of steam just works. Heroic and Lutris help everything else.

My first foray into running Linux on anything in actual use was to switch my laptops to it. Ran that for about six months, with some light gaming; then switched my htpc, which has slightly heavier duty gaming; then built a new PC recently and only installed Linux.
