As many of you are aware, Germany has now opposed Chat Control resulting in a blocking minority in the council, this also means we now have a majority of MEP's in the parliament expected to oppose in a vote. You can see the numbers in the image below HOWEVER, the Danish presidency has now postponed the vote in aim to try gain support for the compromise proposal. The modified proposal is the same privacy invading bill just without breaking e2ee. They need to pass the bill by December 31st 2025 before their term ends, so we expect a vote to be scheduled in by then. It is vital we do not give up the push yet, Belgium, Greece, Latvia, Slovakia, Sweden and most importantly Italy all remain undecided and can further cement the opposition to the bill. Please continue to do you're great work opposing the bill to protect all of our privacy online. For those who may not know: The European Union (EU) is close to passing a Chat Control bill which would mandate the scanning of all end-to-end encrypted messages. This would mean the government and police can read everything you ever send to anyone regardless of where you send it and to who. Out of pure curiosity I called PayPal's Polish hotline about this (PLN currency), just like people do with Steam/Itch.io games. Short version: the lady insisted I contact Steam because they were the ones who pulled the plug because Steam prefers customers use their balance (lol). When I read the information in my Steam shipping cart, she got irritated and said she'd provided all the information ans then hung up mid-sentence.
