Yeah. Being Turkish, I get their unfortunate situation. The question beyond restoration is, will we be able to ensure sufficiently robust institutions to prevent authoritarian takeovers from occurring again, even if restoration is successful?

They made him seem like some kind of badass commando guy who personally had Kurdish blood on his hands, it was kind of hilarious when you know what mandatory service entails and doesn't entail.

So-called anti-establishment people in Western countries tend to see China arresting people left and right for "corruption" and go "yeah, that's how to deal with corruption!" without an inkling of critical thought and it's frankly depressing.

Oh, bugger off with this nonsense. I hate AI as much as the next slop decrier but this is such a bizarre, uneducated and stupid hill to die on.

Some agricultural jobs? -Some-? You do realise that the automation of agriculture coupled with effective food storage fundamentally reshaped how our societies were and are configured?

No no, we want people to work shitty gig jobs, but paid full time, because all companies are actually just greedy and could pay everyone six figures if only they wanted to!

Exactly. I'm fine with people saying that food delivery is a luxury society can do without. That's quite consistent. But otherwise, it's very much a "want my cake and eat it, too" sort of deal.

I suppose their response to the gig-economy is "hire these people full-time," which...was the case in the 2000s and 2010s? And it didn't math out? UberEats and DoorDash didn't just crop out of the ground for no reason. The logical conclusion becomes "no more food delivery" at this point.

I TA'd at a decent and reputable but not Top-X American university while doing my second MA, and we were under considerable pressure to inflate grades and not fail people. So mileage may vary depending on the institution.
