A game needs to get to the core of it's experience at the start to hook me these days. Lengthy intros/tutorials and I find it hard to stick.

I think it's a combo of being short on time and already having deep lexicon of game mechanics. I want the core loop up front and figure it out from there.

That game felt way too tense for as many INTs the Pats got.

Go Pats! On to Denver!

Looking for some Steam Deck games? Here is my complete 2025 run down that of games that I played on the Steam Deck and reminded how fun games can be.
I've lauded the Steam Deck a lot, and played way more games in 2025 because of the Deck. I want to share the experiences that reminded why I love video games this past year.

Something positive: Spry Fox is spinning out of Netflix. We are independent (once again!) and preparing to launch Spirit Crossing.

We wrote up a little blog post musing about this wild adventure. Worth sharing the good news.

A 16-year-old baby is born! Miracles do happen.
After three years under the Netflix umbrella, Spry Fox is once again a fully independent studio. As a studio, we’ve managed to somehow survive countless industry upheavals and release a whole lot o…

Love this Pats team. Love Drake Maye.

Matt Stafford looks like the MVP though.

Not sure how I missed this but a player named Vezeto made a sick lego version of the Executor class interceptor from House of the Dying Sun.

It's CRAZY close to the in-game model. Damn.

I've learned good reading is all about engaging. I am "slow," re-read sentences if I am trying to really comprehend something, and pause to think and process.

It took me years to get there, undoing training of timed test taking, but it has made reading and learning far more enjoyable.

It's probably because I follow under 100 accounts, but my bsky feed is probably my most pleasant social media feed.

I can scroll for a few minutes, book mark an interesting article/video or 2, have laugh, and leave feeling good.

The Steam Deck changed how I played games in 2025. This video captures it well. If you're a busy parent and a gamer, the Steam Deck is game changer and back log crusher. youtu.be/L3vVt2YHn8I?...

Read 19 books in 2025! Clearly read a lot about golf, but unsure if it made me that much better.

Read five works of fiction, and aiming to keep it up. I gravitate towards non-fiction, but this year the fiction I read was rewarding. Helped I lucked into some good books.

My space revenge simulator, House of the Dying Sun (narrowly) made the RPS top 100 PC Games list this year! 🙏

It's conveniently ON SALE at a 70% discount. Profits are directly funding whatever dark, weird, indie thing I'm working on next.

Parents of young kids who are "gamers," how do you weave it into your life? I focus on work and family until 8pm, and have roughly 2-2.5 hours engage in a hobby after. I find myself dipping in and out of games, and not diving deep.

I love games, and I want to feel engaged and not scattered. Tips?

Had no idea got to work on one the best selling PS2 games, Madden NFL 2005.

Super lucky that it was my first exposure to professional game dev.
Happy 25th, PS2!

The PS2 sold over 46.5M units in the US, with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas its best-selling game in both units and dollars.

Over 147M accessory units sold for PS2, with the PS2 8 Meg Memory Card moving 28.3M units with a 61% attach rate.
