i do think ange still diverts away from being entirely like erika, like they both have moments where they antagonize/argue with maria. but its ange who does come to be more sympathetic towards her, even helping bring sakutaro back to life for maria.

i definitely do agree with you on the way ange + erika are very similar. personally i feel like both erika & sayo both function as warnings for ange. delving too hard into being cold and logical will only bring pain just like rejecting reality in its entirety will too.
