And the end, anything that is left in the crucible gets poured into ingot trays.
@benhollis.net took all these videos, btw. I tend to be so bad at filming myself, so it was great to get these from him.

This was at Pratt Fine Art center in Seattle, with my bronze casting class.
I’m in silver, pouring. My co-teacher Maz Fahey is working the hoist. Vanessa Baird is on the “dead” end of the pouring shank.

In addition to prepping for a wood firing in two weeks, I did a bronze pour yesterday!
Dang. Things get real pretty when they’re hot.

We finish the firing at 52 hours, with cone 12’s down throughout. We sealed it up tight for reduction cooling, which starves it of oxygen and it cools to get nice colors and crystals. It also makes flames shoot out everywhere, and you have to patch the flaming holes with clay.
