The application has been prepared within the MOTIVATE project (www.motivate-biodiversity.eu): it should motivate vegetation scientists to go to white spots in the map and conduct vegetation surveys or resurveys there.

You can select plots using a filtering form or drawing an area in the map, explore plot metadata and export the list of selected plots with their metadata.

Beyond his scientific achievements, Professor Pignatti was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support of young scientists. He will be greatly missed.

His profound contributions to botany, vegetation science and ecological research have left an enduring legacy. Among other works, he was the esteemed author of Flora d'Italia, a monumental work that has guided generations of botanists and ecologists.

Under his leadership, this group created what he called a "new spirit of phytosociology", an environment for active and friendly international collaboration in vegetation survey. For many years, he hosted the annual meetings of the European Vegetation Survey in the Botanical Garden of Rome.

Professor Pignatti was a former President of the International Association for Vegetation Science and the founder of the Working Group European Vegetation Survey in 1992.
