The European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) was launched in October 2017 in response to a request by the Iraqi government for advice on how to undertake civilian security sector reform (SSR). The current mandate will run until 30 April 2026.
EUAM Iraq honoured 29 Iraqi National Mission Members in Baghdad and three International Mission Members in Erbil during two Medal Parades, recognising their contributions to the Mission’s advisory work. 🎖️

In Basra, EUAM Iraq, for the first time visited the Arabian Gulf Academy for Maritime Studies (AGAMS). EUAM outlined its mandate and noted coordination with partners, including NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) and its Navy Adviser. EUAM Iraq supports Iraqi counterparts.

As he concludes his visit to Basra, EUAM Iraq Head Ralf Schröder visited Safwan Border Crossing and met Brig. Sajad Hanoon, Deputy Director (Border Ports Commission). He reviewed procedures and coordination among 21 agencies, incl. passports, customs, health and agriculture.
