Not sure what that changes about anything I’ve said re the probabilities of a US invasion on Greenland. The US has already conducted hybrid & covert operations in Greenland - a military invasion would be of a completely different magnitude with global implications.

Either way Europe would be in crisis. European acquiescence would be a complete travesty, while a military defence of Greenland could spiral into a full war.

One NATO country attacking another would be incredibly destabilising for the alliance. Would we also expect Denmark not to mount some type of response? (Which would necessarily involve wider Europe?).

I agree, that is true. But - the global consequences of invading Greenland could very quickly spiral into something far far bigger.

In the eyes of many tourists (esp with package holidays), Lapland is looked at as just a disneyfied resort - the «home of Santa Claus» etc. But the region is also Sápmi, with a long history.
