frankly, the simple truth is that it is bad for the human psyche to be repeatedly exposed to as much traumatizing information as we are. the internet was, in this way, indeed a mistake. we can't actually handle this mode of consuming information. it's bad for us.

This also includes (non-optionally) genuine, non-transactional interconnection with other people, and allowing them to take care of you, and taking care of them. Yes, emotionally too.

I am pretty certain that being offline and prioritizing in-person things is helpful on a neurological level too

And where the minimum wage STILL does not approach a living wage (which you can check at ontariolivingwage.ca, for ON at least), we should be agitating to adjust minimum wage legislation to reflect the cost of living.
