I just got rickrolled by AI. I uploaded a QR code from a work presentation to Gemini 2.5 Pro to see if it could read it. After initially telling me it was some generic text, this is what it came up with:

I asked Claude to build me a grocery checklist. Now, within the Claude app on my phone, I can take a picture of a handwritten grocery list, or an email with a grocery list, and it will automatically categorize it and create a checklist. I didn't even ask for the cute emojis.

I think this is likely where we will land in many areas with AI. It will be better than 80-95% of people who make their living in a particular space. I've played with the new Suno for a bit, and it isn't great, but it composes as well as many artists out there.

I just re-read a paper I wrote on The City of God in my first semester of grad school thirty years ago. The writing wasn't stellar, but the questions are more critical today. How can "the city of this world" find a common good "when there are no goods but the things of time to afford it happiness"?
