How many Loons fans are going?
My family is on our way to the airport!

My understanding is they aren’t operating yet, just mapping the streets

One day different from this year’s March 1 game

Outrageous and terrible. I hope she is released soon. (Good on her for peacefully protesting)

On the bus to the game with my son as well!

I’d rather MLS & teams invest $x mil more in building community connections & funding free youth soccer/academies than going from the 11th best league in world to 9th best. That’s how you build true fans who don’t just leave when x superstar isn’t around. Takes time, but you can’t rush true culture

I wish we would stop pretending that Euro snobs have a reason to not watch MLS because it’s not good enough. The speed of play, moments of quality, and parity make it hugely intriguing from a truly neutral perspective. Can the play be better? Sure, but that isn’t a reason not to be a fan

I disagree that spending ever more on slightly better players is key to MLS growing fans. MLS playing quality is quite good. EPL snobs aren’t coming over even if MLS is the world’s 3rd best league. Growing true fans takes time & investment in fan experience & community bldg

It will be interesting to see if the improved playoff flow offsets the huge regular season break. It’s definitely a big improvement and a big negative. They have to figure out how to make the 1st half of the season truly relevant

Now, it’s less available for newer fans, but even that is overstated since close to as many games are on FS1 as before & lots of games have been available for Apple TV subscribers for free. And now they will give season ticket holders free Apple TV, which saves us each like $150/yr

I do quibble on your assessment on Apple TV. That has been one of the very best things MLS has done for hardcore fans. I went from having to have a VPN so I could watch road games on ESPN+ with shitty announcers to never having to think about where to watch games. I watch way more & it’s way better

I agree with a fair bit here, particularly that chasing “better players” will not somehow lead to everyone being an MLS fan. The quality of play is plenty great in MLS. I’d rather keep ticket prices affordable than spend ever more on players with prices jacked up. Growing true fans takes time

We certainly want all aspects of our transportation system to work well & work hard to try new things, evaluate, adjust as needed, & keep working to improve them

Track how it hangs up over time with pictures, etc., talk with maintenance crews, paint crews, Metro Transit. Focus wasn’t slipperiness, but that was aspect. Report will be published soon

That is certainly a focus & built into the paint installs. I’m not aware that we at Mpls Public Works have heard any concerns from Metro Transit on the bus lanes being overly slippery. We just finished an eval of the paint. Certainly might be spots where it wears down & is a bit slipperier
