Dear @caltrans.bsky.social: The walk signal in front of the school takes forever to change, so kids dart across 4 lanes of highway traffic. Seems unsafe.

Dear concerned parent: The walk signal is working as designed. Motorists take priority. Thanks for supporting our efforts to talk about safety.

I wonder if they considered posting a picture of a bicycle with flashing lights, as they did on a popular bike route up here in Palo Alto (Gold-Level Bike Friendly City since 2003). Cycling across two lanes of freeway traffic has never felt safer!

Now I can’t unsee weird usage of “everyday.” This is a nice sentiment, but “everyday Americans” sounds like citizenship as some kind of grooming routine.
