While donating clothes, blankets, or food comes from the heart, modern humanitarian aid works differently. Cash-based assistance and local purchases get help to people faster, cheaper, and with dignity—while also supporting local economies.

‼️ Ukraine is facing an extremely critical situation.

Systematic attacks on energy infrastructure have left large parts of the country without electricity and heating. In Kyiv alone, thousands of people are without heat. The forecast in some regions is –23°C, and weeks of extreme cold waits ahead.

🌍 Today is International Human Rights Day.

On this day in 1948, the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Humanitarian aid helps ensure these rights are upheld even in crises. Everyone has the right to dignity, safety, and protection — no exceptions.

“We somehow manage to stay alive and carry on with our lives. We heat our house with firewood – we need about 11 cubic metres for the whole winter – it is beyond my means. We dream of peace and for the war to end as soon as possible.” – Nina, pensioner from Lyzohubivka village, Kharkiv region

In Ukraine, winter isn’t just cold – for many, it’s a fight for survival.

In frontline and hard-to-reach areas of eastern and southern Ukraine, electricity and heating can fail at any moment. Homes damaged by earlier attacks lose heat quickly, and there are no safe alternatives.
