not 'This helps me think carefully about what i will say in a depersonalised space such as online'. Decent people don't often think about the times when they are less likely to be decent.

But can you do this in a fully configurable OSS tool? here's where keeping appropriate friction is a choice that you make to keep as a respectful human being, of course someone who can manipulate the code/tech can delete this line of code, this 'restriction' by why?

I think a lot about moderation tools. One feature I adore is how Twitch chat and Discord chats can put timers and slow mode/cool downs on typing in the chat boxes.

Appropriate friction that has likely helped folks not intending to be adversarial, stop and think before they send an abusive messge.

I think you can with design of technology, you add the extra steps of ' having harmful act in a location where it takes extra seconds of deliberate and concious thought to choose to do harm with that tool.
