I think about this more than I should while watching characters in Jurassic Park movies staring in wonder at sauropods grazing right in front of them.

Yeah, that's a pretty solid premise.

And, naturally, four favorite 80's films CHRISTMAS EDITION:

I know this is clickbait, and I realize I'm falling for it, and... well played, I suppose.

But to answer your question, if The Thing is a Christmas movie, so is Halloween.

This is silly. The Thing doesn't even meet the criteria for "Christmas in July," which is closer to when it's set.

For years I kind of hated Elf on the Shelf based on a vague sense of what I assumed it was about. Then I finally got a set on clearance for $5, read the book, actually looked at the doll, and was shocked to discover it was all so much worse than I'd ever imagined.

I'm just glad there isn't a single person on the right with enough of a grasp on metaphor or subtext to realize they could coopt the movie.

I've never seen a more persuasive recommendation in my life.

Moving it up the watchlist now.

That sounds like a much saner solution.

I want to see the '83 version to see if it did a better job capturing the tone - or at least the themes - that made the book so good.

Roman Polanski should have rotted in prison, and his escape remains a miscarriage of justice.

But we're not even talking about that. We're talking about the guy who shat out X-Men 3 and The Family Man.

Why is anyone going to bat for Brett fucking Ratner?
