As you know, I am not a big fan of mixed-case lettering in comics but there is one use I do think works--and that's for faux-typewriter voiceovers from reporters or private eyes.

In word balloons--please, no--it looks like ass for a variety of reasons--but this works reasonably well.

There are a few. Savage Dragon 104 & 105 have comic strips in them with something of that vibe. In SD 120 Angel and Mr. Glum go trick-or-treating as Calvin and Hobbes, SD 236 has alternating Sunday strip pages that are reminiscent of it and SD 252 has a straight up Calvin & Hobbes Sunday homage.
