It’s similar with possession of the football. It’s always good when your opponent doesn’t have the ball. So going for it on 4th is factoring that in, while fans mostly just worry about not getting it.

Something that I think gets lost most times in the analytics discussion is that a lot of analytics factors in things around the edges the average fan doesn’t consider.
