I've been (belatedly) looking at reg 15 of the School Premises (Scotland) Regs 1967. Strange. Half of the toilets are to be for boys. Nothing about the other half. So could gender neutral toilets be taken out of that half? Surely not - too discriminatory against girls. What a mess! Updating needed.

This is from the EHRC consultation. It is misleading. The Supreme Court did not alter the meaning of legal sex in UK law. It should perhaps say something like “For the purposes of the Equality Act ‘sex’ has been held to mean biological sex” but that in itself raises other questions. What a mess!

For decades frogs spawned in this Edinburgh pond on or around 13 March. In recent years there have been two spawnings, weeks apart. This year there was one spawning on 23 Feb (seen in back of photo , already hatched and wriggling) and another on 22 March (in foreground).

Why waste last year’s growbags? Sowed broad beans last month and here they come. Hoping to plant them out en bloc for a delicious early crop. We’ll see what happens. Never tried this before.

Worth noting that the Scottish government is seeking views on its longstanding commitment to align with EU law.
