Such a useful list from a detective game expert! This was a great reminder of all the small, free games out there that I really want to try, as well as the awesome Steam releases this year. Thanks for highlighting this great year for detective games!!
Here is my thread of all the Detective games I am aware of that came out in 2025. It’s organized in mostly alphabetical order, and contains both detective themed and detecting mechanic games. You can find them on Steam unless I note on the game

New devlog for The Daily Spell focused on combining story with a daily puzzle!

Featuring how I was inspired by @gamesam.bsky.social, @milkbaggames.bsky.social, and @thinkygames.com's daily games (for better or worse?? 😄) and how great drop quote puzzles are.

Since Rose has been busy, I was in charge for LD59, which meant more narrative deduction, of course! In My Friends the Monster Trainers, you read letters from your monster-catching friends to fill out a Pokedex-like tracker and discover a wholesome story.

For GBJAM 13, we made Familiar Flip, a War-inspired auto battler where you open card packs and your deck of cute creatures face off against enemies. I'm really happy with the cute art and sleek battle animations, which was all Rose! Plus I got to try more Godot.

2025 was a big year for me in gamedev! Rose and I normally make a jam game or two a year, but this year I also happened to stumble into a really nice community of narrative deduction game fans and got inspired to dive even deeper.

🧵 This is a Jamwitch 2025 recap thread!

Some additional updates to my pokemon-inspired narrative deduction game, My Friends the Monster Trainers, today - I added sound and music, saving progress to local storage, and various smaller fixes.

I'm going to write a devlog about it too! Tomorrow.
This #LudumDare 's narrative deduction game: stuck at home while your friends go catch monsters and battle trainers, can you complete your Monster Tracker with deduction alone? Follow the story and search for tricky clues in your friends' letters.
