Research focus: How to motivate people to do good
The benefits of recycling plastic, paper, and glass are typically positive but small. So go for it, but avoid contaminants first and foremost.

And… unless you know which plastics your facility accepts, stick to clear or white plastics marked #1, 2, or 5. Trash the rest.

The most important recycling rules are:

1. Rinse and recycle all cans — beverage and food

2. Collapse and recycle all cardboard

3. When in doubt, throw it out. Contamination the recycling stream is worse than adding to landfill.

When it comes to homemade hot sauces, my go to is lactofermented single pepper sauces.

Weigh. Add 2% salt. Blitz. Place on the counter in a mason with a burping lid. Wait two weeks. Add a splash of vinegar, stir, bottle, and store in fridge.

If you like a bit of sweet, add 1% sugar.
