New notices of #NIH awards allow grants to be terminated if they no longer align with agency "priorities". This creates uncertainty b/c we can’t count on funding if it can be terminated while a study is in progress.

NEW: In April, the Trump admin withheld $250 million in federal research funding from Cornell, accusing it of committing civil rights violations. Cornell just settled for $60 million: $30 million to the Trump Admin & $30 million in research the Government wants it to do.

Many U.S. universities are dramatically reducing—or suspending—PhD admissions for 26-27. Harvard & MIT, are scaling back their PhD intakes, up to 75%. Brown U. & U. Wash. paused admissions altogether in certain fields. This is due to frozen research grants & reduced support for graduate programs.
