Over half of 18-22 year-olds in the United States have engaged in sports betting, and college students – especially men – are more likely to have problem gambling behaviors than the general population. Problem gambling behaviors and harassment from bettors can lead to mental health symptoms and conditions, affecting not only individual well-being but also team dynamics and athletic outcomes.
