91. Shiryou Sensen: War of the Dead (PC Engine)

An early horror game that charmingly broadcasts its many movie inspirations. The story feels a bit ahead of the curve and I like the Zelda II-style structure, but the amount of backtracking to the same location you do is so absurd it becomes funny

Oh boy, that's freakishly smooth, uncomfortably so!

Love that strut!

This is illbleed and yup, your assessment is spot on! It's a one of a kind game, just absolutely unhinged in the best ways possible so it definitely deserves the reputation it has lol

This is my first time playing it and I'm having a blast with it

It's true, my eyes are full, they're reactive, and I'm always entertained when playing it

Eternal Darkness seems like a good choice, I still need to play that one! Echo Night is worth getting around to at some point for sure

90. Echo Night

This game is quite different from what FromSoftware usually does, offering a slow, mysterious, and exploratory horror adventure that's all about helping others move on from the past. The slowness makes the few chase sequences kinda goofy, but the atmosphere is excellent all around

Yeah, I'm starting to realize that I should be checking out more of their stuff because they are interesting! Dezaemon in particular feels like one of those things people should be talking about more

I've seen Castle of Dragon and J.J. Squawkers before and I'm into whatever it is they're going for

Thank you for reading! Glad you gave it a shot too because it really is a cool game

Discovering and writing about it was good fun since I hadn't ever seen anyone else sing its praises
November 13, 2025 at 8:45 PM
Oh man, I didn't even realize I misread and mistyped it lmao

GODLLA is indeed even better

He has a couple of the same ideas like using C4, but he does feel pretty different overall, so it's almost like getting to play a prototype of his Smash incarnation which is neat
November 12, 2025 at 6:44 PM
Yeah, it's good fun, wish I had it back when my friends and I were playing a ton of Smash locally! The roster really is the highlight, hard to think of a game with a sillier one out there and I wish they could do it again

89. DreamMix TV World Fighters

If you compare this to Smash Bros, it's going to come up short when it comes to features and controls. However, if you remember that it's the kind of game where you can have the Beyblade kid fight a Gradius moai and Bomberman in a dollhouse, you'll have way more fun

That's unfortunate to hear! I've heard this game is tricky to figure out, so having a good guide just in case would be nice
