Grenfell survivor Ed Daffarn criticised Steve Reed MP for focusing on building 1.5million homes.

More than 275,000 people could be living in homes with dangerous cladding - as a survivor of the Grenfell Tower fire has warned Labour is failing those who died in the 2017 tragedy

Leaseholders in Bristol are being ripped off

£250 ground rent cap is step forward but not enough

And I'll be following up with the minister about appalling insurance premiums post cladding-scandal that are stopping some leaseholders moving

But leaseholders also face... 🧵

❗️Our members regularly accept losses of more than 50% on what they paid for their flat — even after remediation has been completed.

“For the many tens of thousands still waiting for work, it is nigh on impossible to sell at all.”

Could the UK’s low house price growth be a good thing?
Agents are ‘gloomy’ about ‘downbeat’ figures from 2025. Projections for 2026 are ‘boring’. But there is some cause for optimism

A great question on shared ownership buybacks… and a Government response that completely sidesteps the issue.

🔴 BUYBACKS

An excellent question from @ruthcadbury.bsky.social

❌ Minister @samanthadixonmp.bsky.social responds… but not to the question asked.

Instead, we get a copy-paste statement that will infuriate many shared owners.

❌ Government isn’t monitoring how many shared owners can’t sell or remortgage due to the building safety crisis, points to a 3‑year-old “pledge” few lenders follow, and say they won’t “help” further.

These are vital questions.

Every day, we receive new emails from shared owners whose lives have been torn apart by the building safety crisis.

🚫 The response from Minister @samanthadixonmp.bsky.social is particularly shocking.

Will there be meaningful change on the key issues of non-cladding defects, non-qualifying leaseholders, extortionate buildings insurance or shared ownership buybacks in 2026?

We aren’t holding our breath.

❌ Serious fire risks assessed as being "tolerable", homes left half-safe at best.

❌ The Government deflects to industry, flats remain unsellable, leaseholders are still trapped.

The merry-go-round of buck-passing continues.

Despite strong rhetoric in opposition, Labour’s commitment to building safety is increasingly in doubt.

This drift typifies Labour’s approach so far: governing by targets rather than delivering the change voters expected.

1️⃣ year today since the "Remediation Acceleration Plan" announcement.

The only "change" leaseholders have seen is a new Housing Secretary and Minister for Building Safety.

MHCLG are still dragging their feet.

Labour are still far from keeping their manifesto promises.
