And they don’t have a single archaeon. I am glad that a few years back Colleen Cavanaugh gifted me a methanogen plushie for my son. You cannot get them anymore.

Also inklusive abgerissenem Ostfluegel?

We hope that by making these CloneFISH cultures available to the scientific community more laboratories will incorporate fluorescence in situ hybridization experiments of archaea into their technical portfolio

The 30 clones represent all four archaeal super-phyla (Asgard, DPANN, Euryarchaeota, and Thermoproteota), but in contrast to the archaea they represent, can easily be grown in LB medium without the need of specialized equipment or techniques

each carrying a plasmid for the heterologous expression of a 16S rRNA gene from one of 30 high-rank taxa of archaea. From these, 17 clones represent lineages that are currently uncultured and 13 represent lineages of which at least one member has been obtained in (pure or enrichment) culture.

Lack of access to pure cultures and other positive controls limit the wide-spread use of fluorescence in situ hybridization to visualize and quantify cells in complex environmental and human microbiome samples. My lab has produced a collection of 30 Escherichia coli cultures (CloneFISH cultures),

Contact me if you want a glycerol stock and/or PFA-fixed cells that already express the archaeal 16S rRNA! Or get the plasmid from AddGene and clone it yourself. Here's the complete list of archaeal lineages available via CloneFISH. #microsky 🦠
