Ha! Right. Does he think a doctor who maxes out his malpractice insurance claims is getting his money’s worth?

My husband's ancestor emigrated to the US from Scotland at the time of the California Gold Rush. When hubby was in his 20s, he traveled around Scotland. Whenever he stopped in a new town, he checked out the local phonebook for his last name which is fairly obscure.

If Trump loses the use of IEEPA, he still has those other powers, so it seems to me American consumers will still be screwed.

Trump has used other legal authorities besides IEEP to impose tariffs. Those other legal authorities are not being challenged in court, so even if the Supremes rule against him, ~ 16% of imports will remain heavily tariffed, including industry-specific duties on steel, autos, lumber, etc.

This is from a NYT’s analysis of Census Bureau trade data. The author’s mention the case is currently in front of the US Supreme Court challenging the president’s use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs affecting ~ 29% of all US imports.

Many plants have closed down and bringing them back online would be very expensive. The drug companies see no financial incentive to do that. The Sandoz CEO said, “You sell a packet of antibiotics more cheaply than a packet of M&M’s. That’s offensive, and we lose money doing that.”
