... all that and more, alongside the good like the hundreds of caves TOTK added (and the finale), yeah they're both games I enjoyed... But I have to be honest that for Switch era I more unexpectedly enjoyed Pikmin 4, Kirby Forgotten Land, and FE: Three Houses more than the 2 Zelda's (and Odyssey).

... The way memories are handled feels worse (the last memory can spoil the entire thing, like it's not meant to be seen out of chronological order). The controls for the sage powers is worse than BOTW's champion abilities which was more intuitively activated imo ...

... I wish there was just a little more to the sky islands (a few more standout islands as opposed to the shrine ones where each is pasted at least 5 times). I wish the depths had a little more going for it (getting all light roots really demonstrates how empty and copy+paste 80% of it is) ...

I enjoyed both games a ton, but TOTK is in a weird spot that like, it's technically better than BOTW but feels like it's not significant enough for something 6 years later. BOTW wasn't perfect but was doing so much new unabashedly, while TOTK feels like I have way more nitpicks with...

...that straight up wouldn't be possible as an open world. That linear constraint allows for more variance and opportunity to change things up completely. I love my open world games too but they are both adequately viable flavors of game organization.

Exactly. I remember when Kirby and the Forgotten Land was revealed and people were wondering if it was gonna be an "exciting new open world game" or just "Kirby in 3D".

After playing it, it ABSOLUTELY plays to its strengths as a linear mission-based game. Every level is a new unique set piece...

It exists in the quantum superposition. It's either one of the best games ever made or a massive fumble that failed to deliver to its potential, and we won't know until the final chapters are observed.

Randomly came across this post. I read "just roll sideways" and thought to myself "huh what game is that? You can do that in Skin Deep which I recently tried but it must be something els—oh nope it is haha".

I've heard "Super Switch" being offered and it feels like it's on the borderline of actually being a possiblity while still sounding rather goofy.
