Bleak, impersonal, and tragicomic episodes of life, often coupled with black comedy and literary nonsense.

Proudly a Memorial Device ANT
He is, with the slight exception of Thom Jones, the only writer I can think of whose magic puts you THERE.

Jesus’ Son is not to be toyed with. Risky, like day drinking Stella in a flat roof pub in Hull.

Denis J the great unacknowledged writer of our age. Never what one expects. Raw and wild. The images he conjures stay forever. I humbly suggest The Largesse of the Sea Maiden as a gateway, after which you are on your own. Good luck out there.

My Art professor told me he visited Nolde, who told him that in the war he painted watercolours in a secret drawer hidden in his kitchen table and when the gestapo visited to ensure he was obeying the rules of his house arrest he would see them driving up to his farm and slam the drawer shut!

Wow!
He has the same kind of wild energy as Peter Freuchen.
A brilliant piece 🙏

Heartily agree - @lauracummingart.bsky.social on song, and I’d say Sport is better than anywhere else.
