Every path to being a great artist requires accepting you'll also make mistakes you need to improve. And I think that mindset isn't compatible for some, who'd rather be good right then and now.
Being an artist is being humble over and over. Not even in a bad way of being "humiliated" but trying something new, trying to grow, is accepting you aren't where you need to be. Accepting making "ugly" failed attempts. But it is sort of freeing.
