Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, the day in which we remember our Trans siblings and elders who have lost their lives to anti-trans violence. We have lost so many beautiful souls to violence, to hatred, to bigotry.

As a trans-owned bookstore, we're tired, y'all. I wish I had something poignant to say for Trans Awareness Week in the face of all these attacks, but I don't. I feel so much grief & anger. To my trans siblings, I love y'all. Anyway, read trans books, celebrate trans life, & protect one another.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Alice Wong. She was a fierce disability rights activist and phenomenal person. I have learned a lot from following her and reading her work. She edited Disability Visibility and Disability Intimacy and her memoir, Year of the Tiger, is a must read.

As a Zo that runs a trans-owned indie bookstore focused on diverse books, yet has never even been to NYC, the amount of glee I feel for Zohran Mamdani winning the NYC mayoral election is potentially ridiculous. But sometimes a weirdo needs some joy, OKAY?! From Zo to Zoh', thank you.

It is officially Banned Books Week! The number of books that have been challenged over the last couple of years has been staggering, rivaling the censorship we saw in the 1950s during the Red Scare. We hope you'll join us this week in learning more about book bans and fighting back against them.
