No seriously, they filmed The Village off of one of our backroads. And RL Stine's monsters got loose in a Delaware town, too. (Filmed where I live now, oddly.) Plum Island's zombies is the one I've seen, though.

Second quote for a new roof and rafter repairs came in MUCH better, but we still got declined. My fico is not shiny enough.

We'll be paying cash for rafter repairs instead. That's going to be $2,064. 😰

Detail of a printed repair quote for Enber's roof. Work Proposal 14 Nov 2025 Scope of Work: 1. Attic - Rafter Repair Access attic and locate cracked rafter. Install a matching dimensional lumber sister board along the damaged rafter from ridge to top plate. Fasten using structural screws and metal ties to restore full load capacity. 2. Roof Repairs - Rear & Upper Slopes Replace up to 1 bundle matched shingle affected by nail pops, displacement, or broken tabs. Remove damaged shingles, install new matching shingles, and fasten per standard pattern. 3. Nail Head Sealing / Maintenance Apply silicone sealant to approximately 25 exposed or rusting nail heads across the roof system. Seal minor tabs or lifted shingle edges found during maintenance pass. 4. Cleanup & Finalization Remove all debris from attic area and roof surface. Our roof needs emergency repairs, before two rafters collapse. #🍋🏠

We had an inspector by, and two of the rafters are split, there's dry rot, and some of the decking (plywood) is damaged. The shingles are also worn out and shifted, and the flashing is letting water in.

I wasn't able to finish V3 of the arm & V4 of the hand before Candy Time.

Here's Ryu in V2 of the arm, which was beaten with a hairdryer to Almost Fit. My allowances were off. V3 (printbed) fits but needs more parts & a color proportions tweak.

V3 of the bionic hand! The caps for the fingers are printing. Each joint is a snap-in assembly. The allowances were loose on 2, so they'll get glue. But the rest made a very nice CLICK.

Gloves are my own design. iDroid, painted and modeled by Ryu, is the keychain from thingiverse. #EnberQueue #MGSV

So I went to bed last night, wary of Schrodinger's String. I couldn't stay up to babysit the printer's test run on the unsupported finger parts.

Would it complete, or shift on the plate and string?

There's a good arm sleeve for Venom Snake's bionic arm, but Ryu wasn't happy with anything we found for the hand. So... I'm making it from scratch on the spot. Haha.

Fingies! Well, a thumb on me. Ryu will need to test fit this tomorrow... uh, today, after school. He wears a size L glove and I'm just a M. The finger cap is snug on my thumb and middle finger, but not so much the last two. The jointed sections should fit universal.

I am REALLY liking the Flashforge red filament. It's darker in person than the flash, but look how Shiny.

This is my own sculpt based on Venom Snake's bionic arm in MGSV. I can't afford the pro models, and the free ones are not wearable ready.

It failed again. Or rather, I stopped it 25% of the way in when it started snagging again.

I have now overengineered the support system to make the brims knit together in a solid raft, and added hollow blocks to minimize the speedy tree spinnies.

Additional progress on the props for Ryu's MGSV Venom Snake #Halloween cosplay.

He wanted the horns to be bigger, so I did a bunch of custom scaling and supports on the obj. He's super pleased.

The Phantom Cigar had 2 fails, but the third body worked with screw side down.

Problems isolated.

It was multifaceted. The PLA had gone too brittle. The size of the model was too small, even at 550%, the walls were so thin the screw grooves were INSIDE OUT on the mouthpiece.

Sized to 800%, Detect Thin Walls, fiddled the infill. No supports. New filament. Better! #3DPrint

The phantom cigar from MGSV is misbehaving even when I leave the door open. The one on the build plate lasted about 5 minutes after I left the room... then skidded out of place.

Running the dryer box and babysitting it this time.

This is for Ryu's school assignment. He had to design a character, mask, & write their story. He went with a tragedy.

I printed the parts (credits 👇) & handled soldering, repairs & hinge peg build-out. Concept & paint by Ryu. It started off too cheerful so it's Grunge now! #3DPrint #EnberFam

The infill is So Sparkly on this TPU. I love it so.

Next phase of Ryu's mask for his school project is the decorations. It'll be a white Drama type mask with red spider lilies. I don't have any red anything, so we're using the TPU. It's flexible and will conform without snapping.

Blarg! A chaotic collage for a chaos print.

The bottom jaw took two tries. The supports are NOT staying put with this filament. The hinge pegs are really shallow, I may make extensions.

We've done initial cleanup & heat reforming, & size tested the flower "decals" (not shown).

Well this looks alarming. I don't THINK it counts as body horror, but the tree supports sure are melty.

And the one for the left eye & forehead snapped out of place not long after the first pic, when I went to bed. The overhang from the eyes up is holding without supports, but it's STRINGY #3DPrint
