See by that logic, Louisiana would still be red because the "primary sovereignty points" of Baton Rouge and New Orleans were always under the same French colony then Spanish colony then US territory then US state. The areas a part of West Florida weren't major population centers at the time.

I mean, a couple of settlements would have changed hands, so it's the same logic as Virginia/Maryland or NY/CT.

I don't think that dating is correct. But that aside, Rhode Island should also be gone because they had a different border with Mass. until 1862 when they swapped land.

So was West Florida in Louisiana’s case.

Then also California would be gone because of Nevada’s brief attempt at administrating “Roop county”. They did arrest the Californian judge first so I’d argue that means they administered it until the border was fixed.

Ok then by that logic, New York is out because of various Connecticut-governed settlements on Long Island.

When was Maryland ever officially a part of Virginia?
November 15, 2025 at 9:06 PM
So wait you’re counting *territorial/border integrity* as a whole?
November 15, 2025 at 9:04 PM
Also I don’t recall Maryland ever being a part of a different state or colony.

I’m kinda confused by the wording of different colony but empires/nations don’t count?

But my immediate thought is Louisiana should be red. They were always their own US territory state after purchase from France as a continuation of French Louisiana. (If New Am. counts as NY, then same logic)

Coke, Pepsi, RC, or Dr Pepper?

Big spaceships are irrelevant until we have a second planet to regularly be traveling between that would require something able to sustain a group of people for years of travel in space.

the Norwegian coast is even worse.
