Agree! The history of this idea isn’t great, either—goes all the way back to Aristotle, and aligns with a belief in a “natural” aristocracy of white, male heads of households who, freed from “necessity,” can govern in the public interest. LMAO.

When can we be done with polling? Haven’t the recent elections taught us how useless it is? Easily skewed, one-dimensional, endlessly spin-able. It’s a lazy tool.

I wish more people understood how intense it is to teach research and writing. Rewarding as hell but also exhausting.

I see the distinction you’re after, but is it really a difference? The ideal for both is full-time SAHM, the evil for both is mothers with ambition beyond motherhood. Left Hegelians and Right Hegelians both end up endorsing Spirit. Doesn’t make it real, tho.

Oh my goodness welcome! Journal of a Solitude got me through some rough mothering years in a suburb of DC, and The House By The Sea heavily influenced our later move to Maine!

I love this movie too but I watched it with my daughter who majored in film and she pointed out all the lens flares and now that’s all I see. They are in almost every shot!
