It been a while since I wrote some #poetry

The silence stood still.
Motionless.
Solitary.
He stood beside it.
Tall,
like a soldier.
Face,
in a grimace.
Arms,
folded.
Waiting.
For what?
No-one knew.

Can vouch for this poetry pamphlet! Skillfully-written, heartfelt poems about motherhood written by my good friend @samszanto.bsky.social ... why not, eh?
I have just TWO copies of my Dreich contest-winning poetry pamphlet left! Anyone like to buy a signed one for £6.50 or do a pamphlet swap?

Another 5am wake up! An urge to write some more of my #memoir beckoned which I, of course, couldn't ignore ... a small edit and 430 words later 😊

It's now 7.07am and I'm back in bed flagging.

Yay - thank goodness it's a Bank Holiday weekend!

I was on a training course yesterday. It was about using Copilot in a work environment. As a #writer it made me feel really uncomfortable. I love writing my own emails. I don't think I need any help thanks!

Okay, so I've a new writing project in my head from last year's experience. It's a memoir. One I have to get down. With regret, I have to shelve Maddie & Alec's story but will get back to it asap. Today I have added 350 words to my memoir. 1211 words so far!

Kurt Vonnegut wrote 100+ short stories.

In 1999, he revealed the secret to writing a good one.

Here are his 8 rules:

1. Don't waste your reader's time.
2. Give the reader a character to root for.
3. Every character should want something. Even if it's only a glass of water.

A poem for early Sunday morning:

it's a bleak midwinter
bare branches,
short and long,
silhouette and dance
to the wild hum of the wind.

Proud of myself! I've written approximately 700 words on this icy, cold Saturday morn. First time in a while. Nearly 400 words is start of a short story 😊
