I would go even further to say that Fast Times is more important as an abortion story because Stacy’s abortion is nondramatic. She’s fine and’ll continue with her life with the support of her friend & brother. Whereas in Dirty Dancing it’s a much more dramatic, consequential thing that Penny endures

I’m going to gently push back on the idea that Fast Times is male centered. While I see why you say that (ie Phoebe Cates scene or the Spicoli moments) Amy Heckerling directed it. And I think Stacy’s story is one of the most important in the film and is depicted with care and truth.
