Inspo from Canadian artist Nick Bantock ✉️
Photo of an envelope, slightly larger than A4 size, with an international postage label attached. The sender’s name and address are hand-written along one edge; the recipient’s details are hand-written in the centre. Every other centimetre of space is covered with Canadian postage stamps in a variety of sizes, shapes, colors and designs. Look closely and you’ll realise the sender has collected these stamps over several years, and brought them together in a riotous celebration of the envelope’s contents: an original piece of art from a book that uses art and stamps to tell its story of mystery and romance.

Several flowers amidst the flat wide leaves of a a bird of paradise bush. The flowers look a bit like the head if a bird with a long pointy grey beak, a comb of bright orange petals sticking straight up, and a mullet hairdo of orange and purple strings. Mid-century modernism at the Gordon Institute in Geelong, built in the 1950s. The neighboring Lascelles Laboratory building with its classical frills is a little older (1920s).
An off-kilter photo of a three-storey building facade. The glass doors are recessed under a small porch bearing a shield with an eternal flame and the motto “meliores priori.” Above, stretching the full height of the wall, are three parallel sets of tall, narrow windows. The facade is rendered and painted in creamy white on a base of wet-sand brown. The overall effect is streamlined, strong, elegant, ambitious. To the right, a small part of the neighboring building is visible. This one has a basement level and two storeys; it features Romanesque columns with carved capitals, giving a colonnade effect to the upper floors.

Yes, I wondered whether it might be an early Cliff. Quite different from other examples I’ve seen of her work.

Sister’s garden is a bit rainswept, but spring is flourishing nicely.
