Will be interested to see how BP updates the methane emissions section of its "Advocacy hub" page, which a spokesperson told me is undergoing a refresh 👀

That's not to mention API's direct targeting of Mainers with ad campaigns promoting the supposed environmental benefits of fossil fuels, or telling them they could only hike the Appalachian Trail because of oil.

It also used the MPA to downplay local oil spills -- and tout the industry's supposed role in water conservation and clean-up.

API used the Maine Petroleum Association to run advertising campaigns in Maine newspapers promoting oil and send pro-fossil fuel material to hundreds of Maine middle and high schools.

Tidbit from Maine's new lawsuit against Big Oil that didn't make it into most coverage: API (main industry trade group) wholly ran and directed two independent-seeming orgs targeting Mainers with pro-fossil fuel propaganda.
