Clarification: the law is toothless in forcing DOJ to comply. But it does have teeth in overriding, for Epstein cases, the rule that keeps grand jury material secret. I believe, but am not sure, that it was DOJ that sought to release the grand jury material here.
Didn’t a SDNY judge cite the Epstein law in ordering some disclosures this week?
