I was aiming for 100,000 - but I've also been working on it for years so not surprised I blew by that! There's definitely parts I can chop

*deep breath* about 150,000

By longer, I mean closing in on 400 pages

Just decided to tear out a massive chapter on the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel in the manuscript to condense it to a few pages. So. Painful.

There are so many interesting aspects to his journey that I really hope to do justice to with this book. And hopefully the manuscript will be done in the next few weeks 🤞

We had a neighbour's orange cat who would stay close to our door so we couldn't see him, and he'd rush the door as soon as we opened to get inside 🐈
