That's exactly what it is. You can see it as well in the (intended) epithets they direct towards conservatives, calling them traitors and claiming to be the "real patriots," etc. Competition to run the state a little differently.

The absolute *best* you could say about Mamdani is that he's incredibly naive to remotely believe he'll accomplish anything good mugging next to Trump in the White House.

I lean much farther to cynical careerism. Mamdani recognizes this is how you climb the ladder.

I love this movie, it's a masterclass in suspense and atmospheric dread, but I do think it would have been better if they'd avoided actually showing the demon, as Tourneur wanted. The producers forced those scenes in against his wishes.

But the dude said he's "proud" to live in a state with the "toughest gun laws in the country" and is actively arguing against loosening of firearm regulations.

Just saying I don't consider someone like that to be an ally just because they happen to dislike Republicans.

It's not a circular firing squad if someone's advocating for state control over the means to defend oneself. It's just a normal firing squad, and a well deserved one.
