I do not envy the NSA and Air Force folks who were just shown a fully decked out and completed “flying palace” with 140 miles of wiring and probably given 90 days to clear it.

A DHS staffer accidentally sent email to a reporter in January with unclassified info about an upcoming Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation. But unlike Waltz and Hegseth, she was put on administrative leave and told last week that the agency intends to revoke her security clearance
A DHS staffer faces serious punishment for accidentally adding a reporter to a group email
The episode, which has not been previously reported, raises questions about unequal punishment for inadvertent leakers in the Trump administration.

Edge is based on Chromium, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised they're also dropping support for Manifest V2. Still hate it though.

Not stoked with some of the things Firefox has been doing either. What other cross-platform, daily-drivable browsers are there?

Microsoft begins turning off uBlock Origin and other extensions in Edge
Microsoft is now in the process of turning off Manifest V2-based extensions in Edge, such as uBlock Origin. However, not everything is lost at this point.

It's been a while, but I am still going through the #OSSU curriculum (github.com/ossu/compute...)!

Recently finished calculus and have a new blog post up: dustinbriles.com/ossu-blog-8-...
OSSU blog #8 - Calculus
It's been a while since my last OSSU post - about 14 months. During that time I started and finished single-variable calculus.

Today is 404 day (April 4th). What are the chances we could celebrate Easter on this day every year?

You know, because when they requested to see Jesus' body in the tomb, the response was 404 Not Found.

The technology in the Japanese language learning community is amazing. Hacky in the best way. I just finished configuring some things that will allow me to be watching something in Japanese and, almost in one fell swoop: add a flash card (1/2)

"Introducing Devin, the first AI software engineer" www.cognition-labs.com/blog

This is not at the point where it could actually replace a real software engineer, but consider the progress on AI we've made in just the last few years. I don't think it'll be long before this is a huge deal

Spent a grip of time yesterday trying to convince ChatGPT-3.5 that it was calculating several limits incorrectly (limits in the precal/calculus sense). At one point it confidently asserted that 0 * -infinity was *not* an indeterminate form and that the overall limit was -infinity

Capital One is set to acquire Discover. In my opinion this should be DOA if we're going to block e.g. Nvidia acquiring Arm, JetBlue acquiring Spirit

Introducing Sudo for Windows!

Initial thoughts:

1. Don't like the UAC prompt every time you use sudo. I understand the internals of Windows are different than *nix operating systems and so it might not be possible to get around UAC without severely compromising security (1/2)
Introducing Sudo for Windows!
Introducing Sudo for Windows We’re excited to announce the release of Sudo for Windows in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26052! Sudo for Windows is a new way for users to run elevated commands directly from an unelevated console session. It is an ergonomic and familiar solution for users who want to elevate a command without having to first open a new elevated console.

Remembered Shawn Lane existed yesterday. Jamming to Tritone Fascination while doing some programming today.

I had almost forgotten how scary Shawn's playing was (in the best way). Gone way too soon.
