Whether someone works in a restaurant or a strip club, a tip is a tip. A worker is a worker. And financial policies should not be gatekept by morality judgments.

If we’re protecting tipped workers, we need to protect all of them, not just the ones politicians are comfortable acknowledging.

When policy carves out exceptions for one group, it sends a message about whose labor counts and whose doesn’t.

And historically, the people shut out first are those already dealing with stigma: sex workers, queer communities, and anyone outside “socially acceptable” industries.

This is not about politics. It is about fairness and equal treatment.

Adult workers pay taxes, follow the law, and already face extra hurdles in banking, payments, and employment.

Excluding them from a benefit given to other service workers reinforces that discrimination.

According to reporting, the IRS labeled adult venues as “high-risk” and decided the policy would not apply. The result is a two-tier system: servers, bartenders, and hotel staff get tax-free tips, while content creators and club workers are left out entirely.

No clear explanation. Just exclusion.
