@donchapman.bsky.social - a perfect way to plug the work that you did to rejuvenate the memorial to William Chapman this summer!

In the Point de Bute cemetery, there is a memorial to William Chapman who donated the land for the church.

Picked this ornament up in the fall. It is the best.

The Yule cat (Icelandic: Jólakötturinn) is a huge and vicious cat from Icelandic Christmas folklore that is said to lurk in the snowy countryside during the Christmas season and eat people who do not receive new clothing before Christmas Eve.

A great way to support Atlantic Salmon conservation efforts and possibly get yourself or a fellow fly fisher a special Xmas gift.

One last post about Breck because he was a cool guy. During the Spanish–American war, Breck took on the identity 'Dr. K.' and was awarded the Navy Cross in WWI for being a special agent in Brazil and Argentina, and later as Naval Attaché in Portugal. #flyfishing #flytying #novascotia #books

There are over a dozen "old school" flies mentioned in The Tent Dwellers. I am not a great tyer, but plan on tying each of the flies mentioned in the book this winter. The fly below is the "Dr. Breck" and first appeared in 1907. #flytying #FlyFishing #NovaScotia #Books #amreading

Breck founded the Nova Scotia Guides Association in 1909 and published the Sporting Guide to Nova Scotia in that same year. Breck died in South Milford, Nova Scotia in 1929 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. #flytying #FlyFishing #NovaScotia #Books #amreading

"Eddie", the main character in The Tent Dwellers, was the real life Dr. Edward Breck. Breck was an author, diplomat, spy, and was the first unofficial German champion in foil fencing and golf. He frankly deserves a book of his own. #flytying #FlyFishing #Nova Scotia #Books #amreading

Largely unknown outside of Nova Scotia, this 1908 book chronicled his fishing trip in what is now Kejimkujik National Park and Tobeatic Wilderness Area.

Winter is a time for me to replenish the fly box and to read. One of the books on my list to read again is Alfred Bigelow Paine's The Tent Dwellers.

Thought I hung up my waders for the year at the end of October. Going to fit a late fall (winter?) trip in next week. #flyfishing
