Wow! Source data changes? It happened again this week with Peel Region. Last week's super low value was replaced with a sky-high one! Yikes!

Thanks for the response. I guess we never really know what's happening week to week and have to rely on trends.

Thanks again for volunteering your time!

Please note that our estimates are based on waste water, but also historical survey-based surveillance data from Quebec, test positivity rates and excess mortality (adjusted for excess deaths attributable to toxic drugs, healthcare system overload, medical assistance in dying and influenza).

WHAT'S NEW THIS WEEK?

About 1 in 161 people in Canada is currently infected (580,000-751,000 infections/week).

The most recent estimate for the United States (Nov 24) is 1 in 116 infected (www.pmc19.com/data/index.php).

The 9210+ is my favourite mask! Comfortable, snug and great elastics that last.

We feel the same over here. Thanks for speaking out! Every day there's a new devastating headline courtesy of the orange t or the despicable D.

Can you explain why some data points are adjusted a week later? That spike in Toronto values last week disappeared this week. Why would that posted result not be considered accurate a week later?

Thanks Andrew! I appreciate your work on maintaining that site.

Masks are powerful!

Imagine not being sick. Not feeling miserable. Not having a lasting cough. Not having to see the doctor. Not missing work. Not missing family.

Wearing my mask I don't feel like a freak, but like I'm in control of my own destiny! Woot! 😷 😉

Viruses don't care about messaging. Viruses are a force of nature and don't care what you believe.

People have this delusional fantasy that they can magically stay healthy through sheer willpower rather than just simply, physically, preventing virons from directly entering their lungs.

Testing was seriously cut around the province but a few sites remain. Some numbers are better than no numbers ...

I'm sorry for the situation in most places that have cut or eliminated surveillance. We need data to make informed decisions.

Excellent! I hope she (and you) continue to do well.

Viruses respect no borders.

I hope you feel better soon.

Yes! If you live, work or go to school in Ontario you can get a free Covid and flu shot. Most pharmacies accept walk-ins or save time and book online. You can get the shots separately or at the same time, whatever suits you.

Oddly enough, the colouring was strongly considered. The graph palette was designed with Colouring for Colourblindness. But the purple and orange (or however you describe those colours) are tricky.

It certainly is.

It's not about "believing in vaccines". Covid vax are not sterilising. They do not reliably prevent Covid. They lessen the severity of the acute illness. But their protection wanes. Not everyone can access the vaccine either.

With this in mind, I "believe" in masks; a physical barrier to the virus.

For some, it's worse than the potential for chronic illness and disability. 🤷

Toronto has two testing sites: Humber and Ashbridges Bay. Other municipalities across the province have them too (Peel, Halton, London, Kingston, Sudbury, Ottawa). The federal government collects all the data here: health-infobase.canada.ca/wastewater/

You're right. Ford gets no credit for this.

This dashboard provides data about COVID-19, flu, RSV and mpox virus levels in wastewater.

The unwelcome visitor that never really left.

I'm so sick of it all too.

Unfortunately the orange area with the biggest peaks is Covid. Flu A is a purple colour. Covid is dominant; the others are barely visible. Click on the link to see the original larger version more clearly.

However, you are right: the flu & RSV are circulating and causing lots of misery. Stay well!
