I often do them at the same time as the students. We typically don’t share the results, but we do discuss the experience—how it went, whether we came up with anything we might use, what we learned or what was hard, etc.

It'll be a while, in part because January-February is blocked for edits on a forthcoming novel, but I feel like I'm really underway. (I had to let go of 600 pages of another book--I saved the file but set fire to it in my mind--but that actually felt great.}

I continue to write other bits on the side, that I'll eventually incorporate into the linear draft, but they stay on the side until they do. I considered Scrivener this time, because there's a lot of historical research, but I'd just use it to procrastinate and files and folder work just fine.

Weird, right? And who are these PIs numerous enough to mention? I don’t live in a fancy place. Anyway, nothing was found. Don’t know which neighbors called it in, either. Whole thing is strange.

I suspect it was someone looking for previously dropped keys or a cat or something. Otherwise it’s the opening of a mistaken-identity novel.
