What has math got to do with dinosaurs? 🦕

Here's an intro to my #simulation work on plausible ecosystems of the Permian-Triassic where I created probabilistic networks of ancient feeding behaviors based on a collection of fossil specimens.

This is so exciting! Too late to register now, but I'll be looking out for future events and just joined AWAP as a member as well, as I'm planning to stay in paleoecological modelling for a while 💚
🤩This #Friday, we are excited to announce the 5th VCWAP program! 🌟 The full program is now available on our official website ⬇️

Just 8 million years before the end-Permian "great dying" mass extinction there was another mass extinction - the End-Guadalupian Mass Extinction, aka Mid-Permian Mass Extinction, ALSO triggered by a Large Igneous Province (LIP) ⚒️🧪👇
According to new data, mid-Permian event was a severe terrestrial mass extinction:
"reveals a 74–80% loss of generic richness between the upper Tapinocephalus Assemblage Zone (AZ) and the mid-Pristerognathus AZ"
