i think there are and will always be people who care about older traditions, but the fact that you have to go out of your way to learn about them or do them because most people are christian or muslim now is like... those are both western foreign religions youve accepted as true over your ancestors

there's ritual and offering for my grandpa on my mom's side every year on multiple days of the year but for my grandma on my dad's side i just get a text from my grandpa with photos of her and a lot of crying and... there truly is something to be said about people creating rituals for mourning...

realized my phone doesnt go back past 2019 oh well. there is at least a decent amount of photos online... but reminds me this is one of those jarring things when youre used to ritual regarding stuff like death anniversaries for mourning in one culture but not the other.

I’m gonna call my mom when she gets off work to talk to her about it but idk. Insane to me my prof didn’t know about food offerings for the dead on holidays. It’s common in multiple Asian cultures but man our school has no Asian studies and everything is European/American/African studies
