Attempts to update to the newest runtime that was allowed failed completely. It seems it will be easier (and much cheaper) to simply migrate to a different service off of GCP.

That does seem to be true. Now that you mention it, I can't think of any books like that I have read, but I'd certainly like to. I love books about hot messes. (E.g. Shopaholic) but why do they all seem to be about white women? Please drop titles here if anyone knows more diverse hot messes to read.

Physics envy is indeed a little weird. It struck me that your examples are tech billionaires. I've also encountered this dysfunction in non-billionaire programmer types, and haven't noticed it in non-tech billionaires, but maybe I haven't been looking.

I do understand why we shouldn't be using the name "Audubon" any more, but we truly didn't need to change it to something so prosaic and ugly.
